Elsinor
Seamen's Clubs's Shanty Choir
The Shanty Choir was established back in 1999, and
performed for the very first time public at the Elsinore Seamen's Club's 125-years jubilee in 2000.
The Shanty
Choir sings the good old seasongs, primarily Shanties (or Seashanties), from
the time when the ships were made out of wood and seamen out of steel.
The Shanty Choir is a male voice choir, being accompanied of e.g.
accordion, banjo, transverse flute, bass og concertina. The choir counts about 25 members.
Originator for the foundation
of the choir was Jens V. Bloch, who presented the idea for some fellow
members of the Club, who immediately joined the idea. Jens V. Bloch was leader of the
choir during the first 5 years.
